The Annuli Viherjuuri x Paapii collaboration collection is a story of flowers and how, through creativity, new dimensions can be discovered, different textures can be combined and fleeting beauty can be made to last and bring joy throughout all seasons. The collaboration began when Paapii’s entrepreneur Anniina Isokangas saw Annuli’s pressed flowers on social media and began envisioning them as summer clothes. This led to the idea for the collaboration collection – and soon the flowers began to bloom in a whole new way.
It all started in the backyard of Neristan
Visual artist Annuli Viherjuuri grows flowers in her backyard at the edge of Neristan in Kokkola and arranges them into delicate compositions, where every leaf, stem and colour tells a story.
"Last winter, I had a feeling that I wanted to explore flowers beyond their usual summer bloom, and I began thinking about how to transform them into art. I got flower presses and taught myself the art of pressing. I’m fascinated by the uniqueness of flowers and how they interact in a composition – particularly the way different textures come together. The main idea behind the whole process was the thought of a flower that lasts only for a moment, and the desire to preserve it," Viherjuuri explains.
Summer travels with clothes and fabrics
Annuli's creations gave life to the patterns Hidden by Flowers, Under Clear Skies and The Whisper of Summer – all of which bloom vividly in clothes for women in organic cotton at Paapii’s sewing factory. The collection introduces new pieces like the Veera top and Aina trousers, alongside beloved Paapii staples like the Sointu-, Vuokko- and Kiira dresses, Lyyra tunics, Vuono t-shirts, and Auri skirts, all adorned with floral designs. The collection also includes practical jersey tote bags, perfect for carrying a piece of summer beauty along wherever you go.
Annuli confesses that she is particularly drawn to the Auri skirt in the collection. “I can absolutely picture myself wearing it,” she says with a smile.
