Paapii’s dark grey and grey coloured merino wool in jacquard knit is mulesing-free and manufactured at Orneule in Finland. The width of the fabric is 145 cm.
The inspiration for the pattern comes from the Hannunvaakuna or the Bear paw. The pattern is the work of Anniina Isokangas.
"The Hannunvaakuna, or the Bear Paw, exudes history, and we wanted to create our own pattern for Paapii based on it. In that mystical symbol, there is said to be a hidden protective power that was once believed in ancient times. It is said that the symbol was used to ward off evil spirits and bad luck. As a result, the Hannunvaakuna can still be found today, for example, on the walls of old buildings."
This fabric can be cut in two directions. The material consumption for fabric cut in two directions is lower, resulting in less waste.
The material is 100 % organic merino wool in jacquard knit. The jacquard technique, where patterns are woven from various coloured threads, adds depth and beauty to the fabric. Merino wool is a perfect choice for cold and changing climates, as it breathes, insulates heat, and effectively wicks moisture away from the skin. Clothing or accessories made from merino wool are incredibly soft and do not irritate the skin.
Merino wool is an excellent material for a variety of garments. You can sew a comfortable merino wool base layer to wear on forest hikes or while working in the garden.
