Delightful patterns, soft jersey fabrics and stunning weaves deserve the best care to keep them bringing us joy for a long time. With proper care, Paapii's clothes and fabrics will stay beautiful and comfortable year after year. Here are the best tips to extend the lifespan of textiles and avoid unnecessary washes.
Wash with Care – Fresh Air is Your Friend!
Fabric doesn’t need a bath every day! Often, simply airing it out is enough, helping to preserve both the textile and the environment. If washing is necessary, keep these basics in mind:
- Always wash inside out – this protects prints and surfaces from unnecessary friction.
- Sort wisely – wash similar colours together! White-based textiles should be washed with other light-coloured items.
- Avoid colour surprises – keep strongly coloured fabrics separate from garments that might stain easily.
Wash rough textiles (like towels) separately – never with clothing.
- No soaking, no tumble drying – it's not good for the fabric.
- Run a full load – full washing machines save water, electricity, and your patience.
- Choose an eco-friendly detergent made for colored laundry. Bleach? No, thanks! Fabric softener isn’t necessary for jersey fabrics or weaves, but if you want a fresh touch, laundry vinegar works great.
The Importance of the First Wash and Care Instructions for Different Fabric Types
Remember that the first wash is crucial to do at the right temperature to ensure that any excess dye in the textile is rinsed out instead of spreading. For example, rotary-printed jersey fabrics should be washed at 60°C for the first time.
Rotary-Printed Jersey fabrics, Sweatshirt knits, Cotton Fabrics & Stretch Terry
- First wash: 60°C, normal wash cycle
- Subsequent washes: 40°C, normal wash cycle
- Drying: No tumble drying
- Ironing: Medium heat (two dots), inside out
Rotary-printed fabric is produced using the traditional rotary printing method. Each colour in the fabric comes from its own rotating printing screen. The durability of rotary-printed fabric is ensured by the high amount of dye in the fibers, helping the pattern stay neat and vibrant over time.
Digitally Printed and Solid-Coloured Jersey Fabrics, Sweatshirt Knits & Cotton Fabrics
- First wash: 40°C, gentle wash
- Subsequent washes: 40°C, gentle wash
- Drying: No tumble drying
- Ironing: Medium heat (two dots), inside out
In digitally printed fabric, the pattern is applied using digital printing technology. This technique transfers the design directly onto the surface of white fabric using digital files, allowing for fast and precise printing of complex and detailed patterns without traditional printing plates or screens. Digitally printed fabric has a smoother surface and drapes more fluidly compared to rotary-printed fabric.
Merino Wool
- First wash: 30°C, gentle wash, use wool detergent
- Subsequent washes: 30°C, gentle wash, use wool detergent
- Drying: Shape while damp and dry flat, no tumble drying
- Ironing: Low heat (one dot), inside out
Cotton Jacquard (100% Organic Cotton)
- First wash: 40°C, normal wash cycle
- Subsequent washes: 40°C, normal wash cycle
